    Blackbird Raum - Ars Goetia

lay in wait, knife in hand, for the few remaining angels
pray or talk to yourself, someone told me it might help

  2. The pillars of the world were shaking like the legs of a drunk, hot winds ripped all the hats off all the ladies downtown that day, then they caught us, ran us ragged, beat us bloody, put us in a dirty cage, now we’re screaming bloody murder, we are starving, won’t see the ocean side again, now we’re screaming bloody murder, we are starving, won’t see the ocean side again!

Continents and mountain ranges, boats out in the harbor, rivers clouds and cities all aflamethe sun went out the sky went red the horses our dancing in their skinsthe taste of ash and sulfur on our lipsWhere is my boy, where is my son. I seem to have lost him in the crowd,he was holding to my hand just a moment agoI know he cannot find his way he is so small he is so lean he looks likea scrap of paper on a branch.I am flesh and you are pale, I am sleeping you are dead,we’re all playing cards as the ship goes downWe’re living as if we are not, hanging from a precipice, shuddering and lurching off the edgeBut someday this will all be gone, as fast a match can be struck, take warning for the veil is very thinThe signs aren’t difficult to read: we tread so heavy on the groundsomeday the ground it may give way.

I see you gilded gentlemen, I wish I’d set a torch to you while I stillhad the freedom of my legs. I do not trust you with my life,I do not trust you with my past I do not trust your hands upon the world. But now I’m sunken in the ground, all my strength to move is gone andscreaming is the last recourse that I have, you’ve left us with a barrenearth, we know we are the aching land,a scorching waste with all the life of coal.

As we went for a post-curry constitutional this evening, my mum and I ran into our next door neighbors. I was kneeling down to pet their runt bulldog when their young son, Evan, ran into the yard. I had never met the boy before, but he ran up to me and threw his arms around my neck. Already stunned by the surprise hug, he whispered in my ear, “I love you.”

Needless to say, I was surprised.

Of course, it occurred to me that his actions were a euphoric child’s naivette, especially when he ran off to check the mail, (at 7 in the evening) but I couldn’t shake the feeling that some pure humanity existed in that moment.

I was filled with a sense of purpose, to build a new world where children aren’t ashamed to say “I love you” or hug a stranger, and they never have to give up those habits. Evan doesn’t yet know of money as we do, of property, of social competition, and I hope he never has to.

    Silent Spring - Blackbird Raum

The poisoned landscape defiled by the factory pipe,
The sickened land, the sickened sky.
    Underneath an awful banner.

Cold eyes are spying from the top of the pyramid:
The government thug, the government snitch,
    Underneath an awful banner.

I want something much more different,
    Not these factories of prisons,
I wish that the earth were green again,
I wish I had a gun in my hand.

Blackbird Raum - The Helm of Ned Kelly

We’ll be eating soup of stone

Till what we grow is what we earn

We won’t steal from the land what’s freely given.

Tear up the deeds to the land,

throw the debts into the furnace,

debts to god, to the banks and to the landlord.
